Corruption and dirty tricks during election campaign. Domestic economic policies achieving success. Establishment of the Committee of Twenty gave hopes of progress on international monetary reform. However the US trade balance remains in the red. The chance of a liberal trade Bill in 1973 are poor. President Nixon triumphs with his visits to China and the Soviet Union. Vietnam negotiations have achieved little. European/US relations likely to be in the forefront of the 1973 Administration's attentions however trade issues could be problematic. Kissinger and Haig. Senator McGovern's proposals on Vietnam; Nixon's rejection of "peace at any price." |
